Sony’s recycling regime

If you have an old Sony Playstation sitting around gathering dust, this piece of information may help you out.

Starting on September 15, Sony plans on launching a free recycling program in the United States. Anything containing a Sony brand (from old Vaio’s to Walkman’s), can be dumped in an environment friendly way. Approximately 75 WM Recycle America locations throughout the United States have been established so far, with Sony promising to expand the effort in the coming year.

By Sony paving the way for proper waste management, I can’t help but wonder why more tech giants do not have similar programs. Sure Dell takes back their stuff, as well as Apple (for a fee), but shouldn’t there be more? Going green is the hippest thing in tech since wireless, so why the limited resources?

I am hoping it’s just a matter of time until computer manufacturers realize their one day obsolete machine will be contributing to the Earths landfill issue. Meanwhile, three cheers to Sony!

Hospital to Home = good news

Hello everyone!

I just received the best news in weeks–my best friend Wendy has came home from the hospital! She was in a terrible car accident, and we were unsure if she was going to pull out of it. With god’s grace, she is back home after almost a month in the hospital.

I am going to bring her some Cold Stone (birthday cake remix, what what!) and some flicks. Any other suggestions on what makes a bedridden person happy?

Online dating for Spock fans

Let’s face it–It’s hard being single. What’s even more challenging is being single and having geek proclivities. Like genuinely loving comic book conventions. Or, thinking one of the selling points of going to Las Vegas is the Star Trek Experience (which, by the way, was awesome).

Now, I am a little new on the dating scene here, and have surfed some of the common dating sites [for friends and my adorable single brother, I swear]. I’ve looked at Match.com, eHarmony.com, and the primarily East Indian community based, Shaadi.com.

With ultra-hot models in their ads, I can’t help but feel a bit alienated. Sure, Rajiv from Boston seems like a nice guy, but will he be into light saber duels at dusk? I would rather have a site that’s based on attractive brains than fake veneered smiles.

Alas, there is a solution for my fellow gamer friends, and an alternative to getting a World of Worldcraft widow. Why not find a girlfriend who’s into that stuff just as much as you are? That is practically the mission statement of the site aptly titled Sweet on Geeks.
