Neha and the Real Boy

If you’ve seen Lars and the Real Girl, you will probably understand the simile I am going to lay out in this blog post. If not, I’ll try to make it so you get it as well [but there may be some spoilers].

In the film, Lars Lindstrom (Ryan Gosling) finds himself with a Real Doll, but treats her as if she is in fact a living, breathing human being. According to Lars, she is Brazilian-handicapped-community service aficionado named Bianca. Lars clearly is very lonely and suffering from some very genuine feelings misplacement. He has a loving brother and sister-in-law, but he lacks true intimacy in his life.

Lars may have some creepy attributes, but he displays such a common human condition; the desire to be wanted, and furthermore, needed by someone. Bianca is in a wheelchair and needs to be taken care of, catered to. This, in turn, is what Lars needs.

1 Year Anniversary

It seems as if I have been blogging forever, but, alas it’s only been a year (well, almost. Here is my first blog post). 68 articles later, I can’t express enough how much nehatiwari.com has become an integral part of my life. The outlet of writing about tech, relationships, and media plus reading what you guys think has truly been priceless!

Along the way, there have also been a lot of iterations of my moniker dot com. Now with over 1,000 page views per week I am proud to announce this latest design. My dedicated webmaster, Andrew Mager, worked with me extensively to make my website what I wanted at every turn. I am really happy with it, but if you have suggestions, please do drop me a comment. As my fellow Wordpressers know, every website is always a work in progress.

Anyways, thank you all for listening to me vent for the last year. I really do appreciate those of you who check back often, and take the effort of commenting. I’ve learned a lot from blogging and have enjoyed hearing diverse viewpoints. As the Joker said to Batman, “You complete me”–Thank you all. :)

Podcasts Galore

Recently, I’ve been fortunate enough to be asked to be on a couple of podcasts. Along with some other projects that have been in the works, these savvy podcasters have kept me on my toes. Here are the happy trails I’ve made so far:

  • Last week, I was a guest on the Slashfilm Afterdark podcast where we talked about The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, and the Tim Burton Batman films. Dave Chen and Devindra Hardawar were such great film-enthused hosts, and it was an absolute pleasure to be on. This week, they are having THE Kevin Smith on to talk more about the Dark Knight. To listen to us geek out about Batman, click here.
  • I was interviewed on Brass Balls radio, which was a lot of fun. We talked a lot about the future of new media and television, Revision3, The Incredible Hulk, and Tech Tv. Mike Williams was really nice to speak to, and I enjoyed Wendy Sullivan’s commentary before and after the interview as well. You can listen to our rant here, and I thank both Mike and Wendy for having me on.
  • Also, I did a podcast with Ed Giordano, a podcaster coming from Purdue University. It was short, sweet and to the point. Listen to it on his odeo site.
  • Lastly, if you missed it, Dave Mora did a video podcast with me while I was down in LA. I tried Pinkberry for the first time, and we talked shop. Check it out if already haven’t.

As you can see, I’ve done all kinds of podcasts and really am flattered to be asked. I do sound a little sick on the first two listed there, since I was under the weather when they were taped. I also am still working on being a better podcaster myself as I am a bit rusty so the practice is very appreciated. If you think there is a podcast I should be on, Email me!
