2007: Don't let the door hit ya on your way OUT!

I thought a lot about what I would write here on the last day of 2007. Maybe a "best in tech" or "my fave websites" blog...but both have been done, and quite well at that.

So instead, I am going to use this blog for what it was originally intended to be: a forum on my thoughts, personal or otherwise. Candidly speaking, 2007 was a pretty rough year for me. There were definitely a lot of things that were firsts. It was the first time that I went under the knife [tonsillectomy], the first time I ended a very long relationship, the first time I got canned from a real job, and the first time that a best friend of mine was near death. All these events seemed to happen one after the other, changing my perspective deeply on what life is--or the lack of what it can be. Turning 23, I feel as if I have matured 5 years in the last 12 months.

On the plus side, I did survive. I tried to be there for my friend as much as possible, at a time when she really needed love to recover. Revision 3 was kind enough to give me a shot as a Producer, taking me one step closer to my dream. The tonsillectomy--I did lose some weight! As for the failed relationship, it really was a learning experience, and I feel lucky to have loved someone for the time that I did. In addition, I met some really wonderful people this year, and got much closer with old friends, both for which I am terribly thankful.

When the ball drops tonight, I will think of each of these moments with the countdown. I hope that 2008 will be sunnier for me and those in my life. The biggest takeaway of 2007: No matter how bad it gets, life really does move on. You just have to stop tapping your foot impatiently, and wait your turn.

I can relate to having a rough time in 2007, but I have found in life that it helps to have a positive attitude. You have your health (though I know your food poisoning experience makes that hard to believe!), and you have a career that many of us would love to have. I remember thinking when I first came into contact with you during my first call to CNET Live that you seemed to have a potential that was strangely immediate and obvious. Seeing you on episodes of Tekzilla confirmed that potential, and I think that 2008 will be a banner year for you, Ms Tiwari.

Happy New Year, Neha!

I think that kind of situations are the ones that make us grow and better persons, sometimes they mean to lose someone or something but in the end and with a positive attitude we can make the best out of them.

The lessons i learned, most of them the hard way are the ones that made me, and still making me a better version of me, and i'm sure for you is the same :).

Happy and a better 2008 Neha! hope you make all your wishes and projects a reality!

I'm 23 myself and I have also been through some hard stuff this year. Nothing of what you went through, but bad enough. But mostly things I've seen happen to others. Its crazy when your involved in law enforcement how much you see that life is so thin that anything can rip it. .. you can go living your life without a worry, and then one day... your gone. Or in this case, you see someone come close to leaving, while your there .. not being able to do anything to stop it.... but like you said. life moves on. so I wish you a happy new year and an even better one as well. :) take care, be safe.

I can feel for you about the tonsilectomy thing. (Somewhere in Washington my tonsils are displayed for doctors to look at, ick.) Same goes for the rest. But you're sparkly and will be sure to shine in 2008. It's guaranteed, my fortune cookie almost says that verbatim.

A weird but pleasant way to say Happy New Year and best wishes.

I know what it's like to have the good years and the bad years. 1992-1993 was my time period - a few family deaths, me being sick, me going under the knife, losing friends (not thru death, but drifting apart).

It's also why I'm not a big fan of NYE. Every day is a new start, and something new and exciting.

Have a great 2008, and hope to see you around (I've been AWOL, and so have you).

not to sound cliche but "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." I like the short segments/clips you've done on Tekzilla. And man, get Louderback to get a better sound stage for Tekzilla (too echoey) ;) Chinn up and have a prosperous 2008.
